ORDERING MY LIFE AROUND JESUS
About "Stecky"
(Stephanie Hillberry &
Becky Crawley)
Hey there! We’re “Stecky,” which is what happens when you mash up the delightful chaos of Stephanie Hillberry and Becky Crawley into one name. We’re both in our mid-forties, went to Christian colleges, worked in ministry, and somehow both “ended up” in marketing (because God has a sense of humor). We even worked in Christian publishing together in the same department.
We’re also eccentric hobbyists—think minimalism, bullet journaling, homesteading, composting, and knitting. Basically, we’re your quirky, modern homesteaders who could probably whip up a batch of kombucha while balancing a bullet journal in one hand and knitting socks with the other. Oh, and we’ve both gone through socially awkward phases where we swore off shampoo and antiperspirant, so yeah… that was a thing. Add to that, we both drive Honda CRVs (cue the “meh”) and—most importantly—we love Jesus!
Now, here’s where we’re different (because no duo is complete without some contrast, right?):
- Steph has superhuman discipline, like the kind that makes you wonder if she’s secretly a robot. Becky? Not so much—discipline tends to come and go, usually when chocolate is involved.
- Becky could run a small country in her free time. Steph, on the other hand, requires a nap by 3 p.m. or she might malfunction.
- Steph loves working out. Becky would love it too… if she weren’t so prone to injury. It’s like her body is made of fragile china.
- Becky’s a visionary. She can take an idea and make it a reality faster than you can say “deadline.” Steph? Well, let’s just say she likes to “ruminate” (a.k.a. procrastinate) before getting to the point.
- Steph has been married since she was 22 (wow, right?). Becky is divorced, remarried, and way more skilled at conflict resolution. Steph avoids conflict like it’s a cardio class.
- Writing? Steph’s fantastic at it. Becky has lots of great words… they just tend to come out backwards and upside down on the page.
Together, we’re a hot mess of love, laughter, and Jesus—with just enough chaos to keep things interesting.
WHY THIS PODCAST
As women, we’re always on the hunt for ways to organize our lives—whether it’s through the latest hack, a new planner, or that perfect routine we swear will solve everything (spoiler alert: it doesn’t). We even do this with our faith. How often have you sat down with your Bible or devotional and turned it into a to-do list of things you’re not doing well enough?
But here’s the truth: Jesus never intended for us to carry all that weight alone. He actually invites us to give it to Him. Psalm 55:22 says, “Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.” In Matthew 11:28, Jesus tells us to “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” And in Psalms 68:19-20, we’re reminded, “He gives us salvation over and over, then daily he carries our burdens!”
So why do we keep compartmentalizing Jesus into only certain areas of our lives, or go to Him only when we’re in need? This podcast is about breaking free from that mindset. It’s about inviting Jesus into every corner of our lives—whether we’re making dinner, folding laundry, or even navigating the chaos of our planner obsession. Let’s stop just surviving and start thriving, together, with Jesus leading the way.
